Virtuelle Welten: Industry Forecast 2008
Jan 25th, 2008 by Simon Künzler
- Large media companies realize the potential of avatar-based virtual worlds becoming the future of social networking. (S. 7)
- Virtual worlds will go mainstream - early adopters, tech savvy people and tweens / teens were the majority of the virtual world’s users in 2007. For 2008, virtual worlds will evolve into mass market usage. (S. 8(
- 2D and 3D will start to become irrelevant as metadata and virtual content management systems begin to enable users to experience virtual worlds across more devices. (S. 9)
- At least one prominent Web 2.0 site will implement a virtual world add on to their services. (S. 10)
- Virtual item selling in Second Life by real life companies will increase. (S. 11)
- Last year of “hype”; 2008 is the year when the industry needs to answer the question: “where’s the beef?” Prove out the business model. (S. 22)
